What to Expect as a New Patient
All services at Mental Health Management Group begin with a comprehensive clinical evaluation. The initial appointment allows your provider to gather relevant medical and psychiatric history, understand current concerns, and determine appropriate next steps in care.
Our goal is to ensure that each patient receives thoughtful, individualized assessment before treatment recommendations are made.
Before Your Appointment
Prior to your visit, you may be asked to complete intake forms and provide insurance information. These documents help your provider review background information and prepare for your appointment.
Please be prepared to discuss:
- Current symptoms or concerns
- Medical and psychiatric history
- Current medications and supplements
- Prior treatment experiences
- Family mental health history, when relevant
For children and adolescents, parents or guardians will be asked to provide developmental, educational, and behavioral history.
During Your First Visit
The first appointment typically focuses on clinical evaluation. Your provider will ask structured questions to better understand symptoms, functioning, and relevant life circumstances.
The visit may include:
- Review of presenting concerns
- Discussion of symptom patterns and duration
- Assessment of medical and behavioral health history
- Clarification of diagnostic considerations when appropriate
- Discussion of potential treatment options
Not all evaluations result in the same treatment plan. Recommendations are individualized and based on clinical findings.
After the Evaluation
Following assessment, your provider may discuss next steps, which could include:
- Follow-up appointments
- Medication management when clinically indicated
- Referral for psychotherapy
- Psychoeducational or diagnostic testing
- Consideration of advanced clinical services when appropriate
Some individuals may require ongoing monitoring, while others may benefit from short-term consultation. Care decisions are made collaboratively.
For Parents and Guardians
When evaluating children and adolescents, parent or guardian involvement is an important part of the process. Providers may request information from schools or other caregivers when clinically appropriate.
Assessment approaches are adjusted based on the child’s age and developmental level.
Insurance and Payment
Insurance participation varies by provider and service. Our administrative team can assist with general insurance questions prior to scheduling. Patients are encouraged to verify benefits directly with their insurance carrier.
